My lovely college room mate used to make smoothies ALL the time!! We lived together all four years and even in or little freshman year dorm room she would concoct the most magical creations. We may not have had a stove, much space, or proper closets…but we did have a blender! Even with the blender sitting right next to my bedside, I never really got into the whole smoothie making thing until I started working in NYC. They’re great to make in advance, throw in your purse in the AM, and have in your cubicle as a mid-morning snack!
This smoothie is a Strawberry – Banana Oatmeal creation! It is sooooooooooooo soooooooooooo delicious & nutritious (HA that rhymed)! Here is the recipe!
1 cup non-fat PLAIN greek yogurt
8 large strawberries
1/2 cup of rolled oats
Splash of FRESH orange juice (none of that from concentrate crap)
Splash of milk
1/4 a cup of ground flaxseed
Basically, just throw everything in a blender, turn to liquify, wait a few seconds, & presto!
I prefer to use small mason jars for my smoothie storage, I divide the mixture between them, and store in the fridge. The mason jars keep them fresh and tasty & makes it so convenient to grab & go 🙂
