SPRING!!!!!! I never thought I would see the light at the end of the tunnel and be able to say that word. Spring is finally here! I am dreaming of the day when I can finally pack away my Canada Goose, vacuum seal my sweaters, stash away all of my boots, and bring out all of my summer clothes from storage. I had a mild panic a few days ago, with the seasons changing and the temperatures rising I realized I had yet to spice up my Spring/Summer wardrobe. So, I decided to go on a little web search shopping spree (imaginary of course) and put together a mini dream wish list. I never thought I would say it but Birkenstocks and Birkenstock inspired sandals are here to stay another summer. I actually caved and bought a pair, they looked really comfortable! Eek! I am actually venturing more towards color this spring, but I still feel items like shoes and purses should be kept in the neutral (blacks, browns, whites) so they can be worn with anything, especially when making an investment. Right now I am really into simple understated jewelry. I love Hirotaka & Catbird, they are both known for dainty pieces that can accompany any outfit. Other things on my list: bucket bags, floral perfumes (Viktor & Rolf to be precise), skirts, flowing dresses with low backs, vintage denim shorts, and stylish “athleisure”. Shop away 🙂
When it comes to clothing, I tend to ALWAYS wear black and when I decide to wear a color it is usually a muted hue of tan or a dark color. You will never catch me in bright neon colors, they are just tacky. Fall is just around the corner & I am beyond excited. Fashion during fall is much more elegant and expressive. You are able to layer and style pieces to give an outfit more depth and it is truly a way to show that you know how to put items together without looking like you just threw on everything in your closet & walked out the door! My hues for fall are blacks, reds, and blues…not bright red or blue but darker more understated tones. I know oxblood was big a few years ago but I am still in love with the color and the best part is leathers are available in these colors as well. Leather is another fall staple and it is on everything right now shoes, pants, hats, shirts, you name it. The T by Alexander Wang bra top would look sick under a simple blazer. Maybe with some leather pants if you want to go all out. What could go heather with a pair of leather pants than a wide brimmed fedora! I have a collection of fedoras and need to add another to my lineup this fall, I have fallen in love with the above dark blue fedora from Rag & Bone. It is PERFECT and is going to be a treat to myself in the near future. Another thing that is sure to be a treat this fall…flats! They are still the it shoe and it makes me and my feet so happy! A staple leather boot is essential…if you are looking for moderately priced fashionable boots hit up Zara they always come through when you’re on a budget. But Saint Laurent, Miu Miu, and Church’s are my favorites for a splurge 🙂 They are so sleek. Along with boots, simples heels and sneakers are must haves! A last piece everyone should have for this fall/winter is an oversized coat! They are amazing when paired with anything really and add instant sophistication to any look! Well now that I have spent the last hour drooling over these pieces, I need to do something else so I do not blow my entire savings account. If only I could win the lottery.
Summer is right around the corner & this weekend is the unofficial start. Since moving to NYC my closet seems to only consist of clothing in different hues of black. There’s a saying popular here “I will stop wearing black when they make a darker color,” and nothing could be more true. No I am not gothic, black just seems to be the fashion staple in NYC. This summer I am going to force myself to try to go back to my bohemian, girly style…I even bought a pair of pastel shorts the other day! My must haves for summer fail in this respect, almost everything is black or white. Oops. I mean who can pass up those Givenchy sneakers (they’re my ultimate must), followed by incredible Isabel Marant birks, and Antonio Berardi/Rupert Sanderson killer heels. Two of my favorite clothing brands make appearances on the list Lovers & Friends with these epic collab pants with uber stylist Monica Rose and Cameo the Label, an incredible Australian label with these edgy, yet feminine shorts! As for accessories, Tamara Mellon is becoming one of my favorite designers (she was the former CCO & co-founder of Jimmy Choo) and she makes me swoon over this handbag, Wildfox Couture always kills it with the sunglasses, and Spell & the Gypsy Collective is my go to when in need of classic bohemian pieces, including incredible jewelry like the necklace above.
It is safe to say I love fashion. When my parents yell at me for spending all my $$ on clothes I tell them that to me it is like collecting art. This is my imaginary Christmas list. It features two of my new favorite shoe designers, British favorite Kurt Geiger and Antonio Berardi who recently collaborated with Rupert Sanders on some absolutely incredible masterpieces for the feet. Those blue pumps are killer. In my list are some past season favorites that are now starting to go on sale as well, the Burberry flats are a pair of shoes I have had my eyes on for months. Celine bags will never go on sale but one can dream about the day they will, and the ACNE leather jacket feels like butter…hence the price. New & upcoming favorite watch brand Larson & Jennings hails from England as well, offering some stylish yet classic wrist candy. Sarah Chloe offers reasonably priced jewelry, that is personal and monogrammed. I have her Lana Signet ring and I never take it off. There are some other personal favorites of mine on this list, Pamela Love who offers incredible jewelry pieces and of course Tom Ford, and some more Burberry. Shop away, dream away, whatever your heart desires.
There are so many amazing coats this fall! From shearling to tartan to leather, there is something for every budget and taste. Above are some of my favorites, that will keep you cozy during winter. Some are a little more extravagantly priced than others, but hey why not dream. The Marni leather jacket is seriously as close to perfection as one can get, the price tag may be a bit steep, but just think how fabulous you would look walking down the streets of NYC in that amazing creation. Stay warm, buy a coat! xx
My countdown began months ago, but we are only a few weeks away from the Isabel Marant for H&M collection. My excitement is seriously out of control! I have been eyeing these five pieces since the collection preview a few months ago. The boots are to die for and stay true to the Isabel Marant structure. Most of the pieces in the collection look like the could have been pulled straight from the Isabel Marant main collection, which makes me incredibly happy, because ill get the Marant look I love for a fraction of the cost. Is it sad that I have already set money aside and have an alarm set for November 14th. The second that clock strikes midnight I will be shopping my little heart out, and just in time for a little birthday present to myself. Above are my top five picks from the collection but you should definitely check the rest of the designs out here.
We all have those days, where we wish we had an endless amount of money and enough closet space to have our dream wardrobe! Unfortunately that is not the case. In NYC, the rent is steep and the closet space is nonexistent, making this dream quite impossible. I love to daydream though. I think about what I would do if I were to win the lottery. Of course there are things like helping out family, charities, homes, that first come to mind, but I would also love to splurge on a shopping spree. Above are some of the items I am currently craving. From Saint Laurent & Marni to Topshop. The options are endless. The Wildfox Pizza sweater is my absolute favorite right now, along with those gorgeous Rachel Zoe thigh high boots, and Sophie Hulme bag! Shop away or dream away, it’s always good to indulge in a little retail therapy whether real or imaginary.
Modern Vice, one of my FAVORITE NYC based designers have done it. They have created the perfect boot. It comes in four different colors/materials, but these three are definitely my picks. You really should check out their website here. They have some great new boots for fall and even some that I am already eyeing for spring! Jett Pastels I am looking at you. These boots are reminiscent of the boots Alexander Wang made famous a few years ago, but I must say…I like these better, the colors are just incredible. Shop shop away! xx
Recently I have been sporting a lot of comfortable footwear around the office. I am all for heels and have a borderline obsession with them, but once in a while it is nice to give the feet a break and slip on a stylish yet comfy option. I have a few of the above, my Comme des Garcons chucks and regular white converse are my absolute favorites, I wear them everywhere! Now go ahead order yourself a satisfying, trendy, yet practical pair of shoes, I have put together a list of some of my favorites at the moment! Yes some are a splurge but I can guarantee your feet will never look better. Wear with a cuffed pair of jeans, a dress, basically anything your heart desires. You know you want to!
